COVID-19 cases resurging again as Nepal records close to 700 fresh infections on Saturday

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 08

Nepal recorded 696 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 831,748 while the death toll remained at 11,602 as no fatalities were recorded on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 814,006 with 297 discharges logged today.As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 13,264 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 9,762 were PCR tests while 3,502 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,919,776 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 248 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 696.

Nepal’s Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.9%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

The country’s active Covid-19 case count currently is 6,140.

Currently, there are 113 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

 

On Friday, Nepal had witnessed 572 cases of the respiratory infection.
